The Society's Newsletter is published monthly (except in December) Our newsletter Editor, Lavinia Ford, compiles an always interesting and informative production that includes Society news, reports, activities and articles on local and family history.  Contributions from members are always very welcome and can be emailed to bdhsarchives@acenet.com.au for the attention of the Newsletter Editor.

General Monthly Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month in the meeting room of the Archives and Research Centre at Mittagong. Meetings are at 7.30pm, except for the winter months of June, July and August, when the meetings are at 2.00pm. Guest speakers from a wide variety of disciplines including local and general history, genealogy and family history and topics of general interest are invited to address our meetings.  Visitors are always most welcome.

November 2008 - The Society is having a SAUSAGE SIZZLE AT BUNNINGS, Mittagong on Sunday 30th November, from 8am - 3pm. Bunnings make a BBQ available to not-for-profit organisations to help them with their fund-raising efforts. We are actively raising money for a new printer/reader for the Archives to replace our ancient and unreliable machine. If you can, please come along and support your society by buying your lunch from us and maybe do some Christmas shopping while you are there.

August 2008 - The much awaited new publication by members Carol Nolan and Carolyn Dougherty, Digging Up the Past, is ON SALE NOW! The book contains obituaries from Southern Highlands newspapers up to 1900 and is a must for family historians or anyone interested in our rich local history. Priced at $40 plus postage and packing, the 385 page book is packed full of interesting, sad, funny and surprising stories.
